When you try to start the program, the following error is displayed:
Establish an Internet connection to continue
The Autodesk license server cannot be found. This problem can be caused by a variety of issues, including:
- Internet connectivity has been lost.
- The Autodesk license server is temporarily unavailable.
Solution:
If you are using an Autodesk 2014 or 2015 product, please apply the POODLE Hotfix.
If applying the Hotfix does not resolve the issue, try the troubleshooting steps below:
Check the Internet Explorer connection settings
- Open Internet Explorer.
- Click Tools > Options.
- Access the Connections tab.
- Click LAN Settings.
- Click OK.
- Launch the product and test to make sure you can establish an Internet connection.
Check the Internet Explorer Advanced settings
* This solution applies after installing poodle hotfix or if you are running 2016
- Open Internet Explorer.
- Click Tools > Options.
- Access the Advanced tab.
- Scroll down and check ‘Use SSL 3.0’
- Click OK.
- Launch the product and test to make sure you can establish an Internet connection.
Additional Troubleshooting
If you still can’t establish a connection, try the following:
- Shut down and try to log in to Windows again.
- Check that the machine time settings reflect the correct local time.
- Check whether you are behind a proxy. It could be blocking the connection.
- Check that antivirus software or firewall settings are not blocking Internet connectivity.
- Delete the following Windows files and folders:
- Go to C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\ and delete the ADUT folder
- Go to C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\ and delete the ADUT folder
- Delete the 3 files that begin with the adskflex in C:\ProgramData\FLEXnet. (Note Files could be hidden)
- Delete the file LoginState.xml in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Autodesk\Web Services
- If you have administrator privileges, right-click the product icon (Revit, AutoCAD, and so on) and select Run As Administrator. Then close the program and reopen it normally.
Use Telnet to confirm the port is open
Use Telnet to confirm that the port is open in Windows. For details, see the Screencast Telnet for Desktop Subscription.
- Install the Windows Telnet Client.
- Open a Command prompt window. Click Start, type cmd in the Start Search box, and press Enter.
- Type the following command: pkgmgr /iu:”TelnetClient”
- If the User Account Control dialog box appears, click Yes to accept.
- Click Continue.
- When the Command prompt appears again, the installation is complete. Close the Command prompt.
- Open a new Command prompt and run the following command: telnet cur.autodesk.com 443
If it doesn’t work, you may need to close and reopen the Command prompt several times to enable Telnet.
If there is no error, the connection is established. You should see a blinking cursor.
Network Connectivity Blocked by a Proxy Server (or Firewall)
Allow anonymous pass-through at the Proxy level by white-listing the domains on the article below (both HTTP and HTTPS):
If you cannot allow pass-through at the Proxy level, please white-list the above links on Gateway. Then instruct the user to bypass the proxy as follows:
- Open Internet Explorer.
- Click Tools > Options.
- Go to the Connections tab.
- Click LAN Settings.
- Click Advanced (under the Proxy Server area of the page)

In some cases could it be helpful to remove Trovi, WAJAM, or DNS Unlocker
Trovi (Search Protect) prevents desktop subscribers from accessing their products. Uninstall it following these instructions: Error: “The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142)”
WAJAM software enforces proxy server settings on the Internet Explorer browser. Unless you remove this software, you can’t disable the proxy server settings and connect to the Autodesk license server. Follow these instructions to uninstall WAJAM: Removal instructions for Wajam
